Job Description:
A unique youth farm program is looking for an energetic Lead Teacher and Assistant Teacher for their farm-based caregiver & me classes for ages 1-5, with ages 2 & 3 being the most popular age. Each class includes a song, story, animal time, and a craft.
They are searching for candidates with early childhood experience (preschool, nanny, educational programs, birthdays, or otherwise). Shifts available will be between 3.5 – 6 hours a day either at their South Durham and/or Chapel Hill locations.
They offer a flexible schedule with the opportunity to work between 2 – 6 days a week. The right candidate will be able to engage both toddlers and adults. They will be quick on their feet, able to engage children in silliness, and have a hawk-eye for safety.
Must be comfortable with the outdoors and animals. Horseback riding or animal experience is preferred but not required. Musical theater, singing, guitar, or ukulele skills are highly beneficial.
Candidates must be available to work starting September 9th and be available for training at least 1 week prior. The ideal candidate will be available to work once a week this summer for 6 weeks at our South Durham location to train as an assistant teacher.

Job Description:

A farm-based preschool is looking for an energetic Assistant Teacher for their mixed-age classroom of 2.5 to 5-year-olds.

This play-based farm school encompasses Montessori, Reggio, and Project-based pedagogies. Therefore, a basic understanding of these instruction styles is mandatory, and experience or training in these pedagogical philosophies is preferred. 

They are searching for candidates with early childhood experience (teaching, nanny, camps, birthdays, or otherwise) and a willingness to continue learning and growing in their profession. In addition, annual professional development will be provided by the school.

Candidates will work on a regular schedule of Monday to Friday from 8 am to 1 pm daily. The right candidate will be able to engage both toddlers and adults. They will be quick on their feet, note how daily play is influencing development, and have a hawk-eye for safety.

Someone who can be creative and think on their feet is a must.

Most importantly, the family wants a nanny that can engage their child in play both indoors and outdoors. You should be prepared to foster his curiosity and facilitate fun experiences throughout the day.

Someone comfortable with animals is also required. The family has two small dogs that are members of their family. Someone comfortable not only having the dogs around the home but happy to help complete basic care for the dogs from time to time is a must.

The work schedule is flexible but will typically be first shift hours Monday through Friday, with some weekend and night hours requested occasionally.

This position is a live-out role in Chapel Hill and live-in when traveling. When in Maine a car will be provided for the nanny’s use.
